Frequently Asked Questions
-
Where is your office located?
The office is located at 1955 Merrick Road, Suite 205, Merrick, New York 11566.
-
What if my child is hesitant to start therapy or to come to the office?
Dr. Rose makes every effort to create a warm, comfortable, and accepting environment for all ages. Establishing a strong, trusting rapport with your therapist is essential for treatment success. Children especially can be “slow to warm” to therapy. Dr. Rose has worked with children for 15+ years in a variety of settings other than in the therapy office, like camps, schools, and via coaching sports teams.
Additionally, Dr. Rose incorporates games, prizes, video gaming (Nintendo Switch!), and other kid-friendly modalities to help soften the experience while making the process both rewarding and fun!
-
Do you accept insurance?
At this time, Dr. Rose is not a member of any insurance panels; however, upon the completion of session payment, a “superbill” is provided. This is a receipt that you can submit directly to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. It is very important that you check with your insurance company prior to us working together so that you can be informed about any out-of-network mental health service reimbursement that your insurance company provides, along with related deductible amounts.
-
How long is a typical therapy or evaluation session?
Dr. Rose’s sessions are usually 45 minutes in length.
For evaluations, the length will depend and vary based on the testing performed. Dr. Rose will be able to give you a better idea of the specific evaluation length as he gets to know the patient and the testing required. Usually, evaluations will take place over the course of 2-3 visits to the office.
-
What is the ADOS-2?
The ADOS-2 stands for Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, 2nd Edition. The ADOS-2 is a highly structured, nuanced evaluation measure used in conjunction with other measures to diagnose Autism Spectrum Disorder. Dr. Rose has been formally trained and certified to conduct ADOS-2 testing. Using a series of communicative and social “presses,” the ADOS-2 is designed to elicit real-time observations that can be used to diagnose (or deny the presence of) Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Keep in mind, the ADOS-2 is very rarely used in isolation. It is usually part of a larger, more comprehensive Autism evaluation. If the only test that the patient needs is an ADOS-2, Dr. Rose will usually ask for the testing/evaluations that have already been completed in order to help clarify any findings.
-
How long will it take for me or my child to feel better?
It’s important to understand that everyone is different. Success in therapy often ebbs and flows. There may be quick results for some and a more long-term trajectory for others. There is no “one size fits all” approach for therapy, other than establishing a strong trusting relationship. Dr. Rose hopes to be this therapist for you or your child!
-
What is your rate for services?
Dr. Rose will inform you via telephone and/or email of the specific session or evaluation fee.
Good Faith Estimate:
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
